Now I like to think of ‘Nudgu’s blog’ as a little community we have going on, and just like I would with friends, I like to share things that I find interesting, to could hopefully help some of you. Now what I say won’t always be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay, but if I can offer advice to at least one of you who needs help with dementia, I will be more than happy.
So when I came across a new brain training app that improves memories of people with early-stage Dementia, I instantly wanted to find out more! Now it seems everyday something new pops up which claims to “stop dementia” and whether that’s certain foods, a type of exercise or even vitamin D we can never be to sure how much of a difference these really make.
However this new brain training computer game developed by British neuroscientists is shown to improve the memory of patients in the very earliest stages of dementia and can even allow patients to avert some symptoms of cognitive decline.
Now there is a lot of “sciency” background stuff to this with many words I honestly don’t understand but this “game show” styled app has show that within just 1 month of playing it, people memories have increased by 40%!
Now obviously this App does not cure or prevent dementia but just like Nudgu it uses technology to simply help those with dementia and improve their everyday life by giving them more independence.
So many people are finding new ways to help with dementia, and with all this medical and technological research we are moving closer and closer to a cure for dementia.
