Anyone who has a family member with dementia will know there is a slight gap at your local pharmacy when it comes to products that can help those with dementia. It seems strange that you walk into a store, which is full of all these antibiotics and medicines, but there is nothing their to help the UK’s biggest killer.
Lloyds Pharmacy has made a brilliant decision to stock an array of helpful products for people living with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society has described this as a “significant step towards supporting carers”.
The high street chain have a number of products they will be selling in this range including; a talking alarm clock that can record messages for up to six daily alarms, or a clock that can display text such as “Now it’s Saturday morning” and a family guide to dementia.
The store will also sell jigsaws, a glowing cube that plays soothing sounds, and a “fiddle muff” to keep the person’s hands occupied and reduce repetitive behavior.
Having these products in such a close and easily accessible place is a great idea, as I’m sure these products will be beneficial to many people and family’s living with dementia.
