We all have very busy lives and whether this is through work or family it’s easy to find yourself getting lost in the stress of it all. It’s not abnormal to neglect your well being when you are so wrapped up in other goings on in your life. However let this be a reminder that no matter how much you want to help someone, the most important thing is to look after yourself.
If you have a loved one suffering with dementia or any illness, life can sometimes seem like there is a constant dark cloud over it. By ignoring the grey area it can only make it worse as pushing a problem to the side will only make it grow.
So my advice would be to schedule a time each week to do something you love, whether that’s a long walk, bubble bath or even cooking your favorite meal. Everyone has at least 40 minutes to spare a week and instead of using that time to worry about things you should be doing, relish in this personalised “me time”.
Any forms of stress and pressure can really weigh you down, so rewarding yourself for keeping strong is something I find really important.
