Raising Awareness is one of the most curial ways of inspiring people to speak out and receive help for problems they may be going through in their lives. Whether it’s Prince Harry or your neighbor next door, talking about issues helps break down the stigma around them and allow others to feel far less alone.
So with it being Alzheimer’s awareness month I think it’s important that more of us speak out about how Alzheimer’s has affected our lives. Now the phrase “a problem shared is a problem halved” doesn’t always apply to everyone, but it is true that sharing can help reduce feelings of stress anxiety and even depression.
When the Royal Family spoke out about creating awareness for mental health the positive effects were overwhelming. By having such influential people talk about their personal experience with mental health was really comforting to those who are battling it. It truly delve into the realisation that no matter how “put together” or “perfect” some may present themselves as, you have no idea what they could really be going through.
So why don’t you try sharing your experience with Alzheimer’s to friends or family when you feel ready. Bottling up these emotions will never help, but by talking about your struggles it creates Awareness for those who are also going through a hard time.
So lets get talking…
