Yes, that’s right, the summer holidays have sprung on us once again and we can say goodbye to that “school rush hour traffic”… for now.
However the summer holidays to me always remind me of travelling down to sunny Kent and visiting my grandparents. As much as I wanted to spend time with my friends, I wouldn’t of changed that week of bike rides and walks to the local pub for anything.
Now I know you are probably reminiscing on all those precious childhood memories of visiting your Aunt Jo or Great Granddad over the summer. But what I’ve realised growing up is that the time we spend with our loved ones in those early years are so much more important than we realise. As you grow and your loved ones age, you see how vital the time you have now to spend with them is, but building your relationship at 17 years old is far harder than at 3.
To have the memories of you as a baby or when they were able to pick you up and spin you round is something that holds a special place in your loved ones heart and a bond they will cherish forever. So when you grow and look back on those pictures, you see just how influential they were in your life and how some of your best childhood memories were spent in their company.
So despite their being many fun ways to spend your summer holidays this year, make sure you fit in those precious family trips down to Granddads. As even though you children may not appreciate it as much now, in years to come we all wish nothing more than to go back and relive those precious 4 days with your family back in sunny Kent.
